Why did you choose to apply to work at the Audit Office?

Auditing is not something that you fall into, it is something that you choose. Also, the Audit Office values aligned with my own.

How have you found working at the Audit Office?

It was challenging initially, adjusting to new systems but the support I received from my team made the transition from university so much easier. The work we do here is important because we hold other government agencies accountable.

What types of clients have you worked with?

Jobs for NSW, start-ups with funding and grants, regional councils, and small trusts. Working at the Audit Office, you get the opportunity to interact with clients first-hand and gain practical, hands-on experience. Communication and relationship-building are key soft skills – I relished the variety and not being tied to a desk.

What is your favourite part about the work you do?

Realising how integral an auditors role is – without us, there is no accountability.

What do like most about the office culture?

I feel comfortable and supported at work, everyone is very welcoming and helpful.

How has the Audit Office supported you in your study?

Our audit leaders ensure that we have sufficient time to study, even during busy periods.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Keep an open mind. You can make a positive difference working here and help others, from stakeholders to clients to the people of NSW.
