Our strategic framework

Our strategic framework outlines the main components of our corporate plan.

It provides a structured approach that connects our vision and purpose with our strategic goals and objectives. Additionally, it details how we maintain accountability and effectiveness through our success measures and notes the significant role our people and values, together with strategic risk management, play in supporting the overall framework.

The diagram below illustrates the key elements of our strategic framework.

Our strategic imperative

The NSW public sector, and the projects and services it delivers, are evolving. This requires a shift in how governance and financial management are assessed as part of the continued drive for accountability in the use of public resources.

As government services and products increasingly adopt digital and emerging technologies, there is a need for our audit approach to adapt accordingly. At the same time, cyber security risks and artificial intelligence-driven decision making introduce new areas of risk that require modernised audit approaches.

We have a strong foundation and will focus on continuous improvement to prioritise the areas of workforce capabilities, digital audit processes and tools, methodologies, and stakeholder engagement. This approach aims to proactively influence real improvements in public sector performance.

Our Audit Work Program outlines our audit priorities for a three-year period and should be reviewed alongside this corporate plan. This program has been formulated with the following strategic goals in mind, and has been developed based on feedback from stakeholders, including the Parliament of New South Wales and the broader public sector.

Our strategic goals

  1. Transform public sector auditing in NSW to create more public value.
  2. Deeply understand our stakeholders and how they operate.
  3. Deliver effective insights that inform, influence and improve government performance.
