Suggest an audit

The Audit Office of New South Wales is an integrity body, responsible for providing independent financial, performance and compliance audits of government entities.

These audits help parliament hold government accountable for its use of public resources. When developing our performance audit program, we directly consult with stakeholders, including NSW Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, cluster department secretaries and other integrity agencies.

We also invite members of parliament and citizens to suggest audit topics. The Auditor-General only has the mandate to audit certain areas. We audit NSW State Government entities, universities and Local Government. We do not audit the not-for-profit or private sectors. To give you an idea of the types of areas we can audit, have a look at our recent performance audit reports. For how we select future audit topics, refer to our Audit program.
