A qualified audit opinion was issued on the Total State Sector Accounts for the year ended 30 June 2012. Qualified opinions have been issued every year for the past decade. Overtime is a significant cost for RailCorp and Roads and Maritime Services, adding about ten per cent to the cost of regular salaries. The Audit Office observed that there is diversity in the form, content and quality of reports produced by the agencies. This reflects, in the main, that agencies tailor reports to meet local needs and conditions. It is considered that improvement is needed.
