Increasing population puts pressure on the public transport system leading to increased crowding. Long-term responses are to increase network capacity, but in the short-term transport agencies must work within existing constraints to manage crowding to ensure a safe, reliable and comfortable journey for passengers. This audit will look at how effectively transport agencies manage crowding at train stations.

The WestConnex project is a motorway project that will link the M4 and M5 motorways with 33km of new motorway tunnels in Sydney. We conducted a performance audit of the WestConnex business case review process in 2014. Since then, the scope and projects included in WestConnex have changed.
