Greater Sydney is home to almost five million people and the region is continuing to grow. To have a liveable city that is resilient to climate variability, it is critical that we secure our water supply. This includes making the best use of the water that we share.
The audit will examine whether water conservation initiatives are effectively investigated, implemented and supported in Greater Sydney. It will focus on the activities of Sydney Water and the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, such as commitments in the 2017 Metropolitan Water Plan.
We plan to conduct this piece of work as part of a multi-volume series on the theme of water: refer to ‘Water security: regional town water infrastructure – undertaking in 2020’ and ‘Water management and regulation – undertaking from 2020’.
