New South Wales has over 180,000 km of roads across its network. Local councils manage over 85% of these roads.

This audit will consider how effectively councils are managing their road assets. The audit may consider whether councils are collecting and managing road asset condition data, using that information to maintain road conditions according to asset management plans and maintenance schedules, and communicating their activity and outcomes to the community and other levels of government.
