Planning and Environment 2018

The Auditor-General for New South Wales, Margaret Crawford, released her report today on the NSW Planning and Environment cluster. The report focuses on key observations and findings from the most recent financial audits of these agencies.

Unqualified audit opinions were issued for all agencies' financial statements. However, some cultural institutions had challenges valuing collection assets in 2017–18. These issues were resolved before the financial statements were finalised.

There was also an increase in findings on internal controls across the Planning and Environment cluster. These were largely related to payroll and system user access reviews and administration, and one in five findings were repeat issues.

The Department’s data migration from the Aurion system to the SAP HR system had no significant issues. However, more effort is required to ensure the SAP user access controls are operating as intended, particularly in the payroll area.
