Report on Local Government 2018
The Auditor-General for New South Wales, Margaret Crawford, released her report today on the Local Government sector. The report focuses on key observations and findings from the 2017-18 financial audits of 135 councils in New South Wales and the 2016-17 audit of Bayside Council. The report also includes commentary on three performance audits published in 2018.

Members Additional Entitlements 2018
The Auditor-General, Margaret Crawford, today released a report on the annual review of additional entitlements claimed by Members of the New South Wales Parliament under the Parliamentary Remuneration Tribunal’s Determination. The review analysed all claims made by Members and tested a sample of claims paid for the year ended 30 June 2018 in more detail.

Firearms regulation
There are gaps in how the Firearms Registry administers the firearms licencing and registration scheme for existing licence holders, according to a report released today by the Auditor-General of NSW, Margaret Crawford. These gaps reduce the Registry’s effectiveness in regulating firearms use and ownership.

The Hon. Troy Grant MP, Minister for Police and Minister for Emergency Services requested an audit under section 27B(3)(c) of the Public Finance and Audit Act 1983, to determine whether expenditure on overseas travel by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (the Commission) complied with section 12A of the Public Finance and Audit Act 1983.
